Streets as a designated space for public/political demonstrations
Streets are used for more than just traffic allowing social and spatial mobility. According to the picture I chose, I like to mention streets as a space for public/political demonstrations.
The picture was taken last year while the „Unteilbar“-demonstration at „Unter den Linden“ in Berlin. People went out on the street to march for human equality and to criticize racism, fascism and antisemitism. Around 240k people attended the demonstration which made it one of the biggest in German history after reunification.
As the demonstration took place in public space (squares such as Alexanderplatz, of course streets) it was officially registered at the city council so that the police could shut down roads and guarantee for participants safety.Attachments:
