A public space can be almost any meeting point in a common area. Other than parks, markets, plazas, streets, offering cultural and social activities as entertainment or recreational means, they can also be spaces of expressions.
In July of this summer, Puerto Rico went out to the streets to protest demanding our Governor resign to his position after discovering through a leaked chatroom messages conversation, in which the governor and advisers mocked victims of the Hurricane Maria (2017), disrespect public figures, shown racist jokes and discriminized the LGBTQ community, etc. The people shut down the main highway that connects San Juan and the main island, besides taking over every public space (plazas) in several towns and cities, cover every single street of the Old San Juan and Capitol, as a space to express their feels.
